The Mixxer is a free educational site for language learners and teachers to find a language partner for a language exchange. The language partner is someone who speaks the language you study as their native language and is studying your native language. The partners then meet online to help each other practice and learn a foreign language.

This may offer some help. It is a language translator for Skype. It can help when there is very limited language skills at the start. It also has the ability to speak as well, so people can not only learn to read and write a new language, they can hear proper pronunciation of words as well.
This is also now a featured Extra in Skype 3.0 Windows beta. It is called the Universal Chat Translator for Skype.
